Building on the Interspecies Creativity project, started by lab alum Dr. Isa Correa, the Snow Day Learning Lab continues to explore the implications of making with living materials—materials that have their own needs, goals, and agency. Rather than see making as being a process of bending materials and matter to your will, we are exploring how making as a collaboration with the other organisms might change learner’s relationship to the living environment. What does it mean to collaboratively make with an organism like mycelium? What new biomaterials can we grow and what are the properties of these new materials?
